In Memory of Larry Wilson
After a successful high school baseball career at Union City, Larry committed himself to the military and served in the marines, fighting in Vietnam and earning a Purple Heart. He then found his way back home to Union City and built a family and a lifelong relationship with individuals and coaches through his work at the UCBC and his love for sports.
While in Union City, Larry played on various sports leagues as well as being involved in multiple sports. Larry was involved with MV softball, Union City All-star softball, UCHS softball and Union City girls’ basketball. Larry spent the last 10 years serving as the Lady Indians statistician. He loved his Lady Indians and would often brag about them at family gatherings. Larry was also very good about keeping the stats straight and it would take him less than 24 hours to tell Coach Black if she put something in on the stats website wrong. Before his longtime UCCHS commitment he also kept book and stats for softball teams in the area. Larry loved sports and dedicated much of his life to helping young athletes and coaching in the area.
Larry was a good friend to many with his kind soul and humorous personality and will be greatly missed! Thank you, Larry for your giving heart, your sense of humor and your unwavering support... but most of all thank you for being a friend! Larry is survived by his sons, grandchildren, siblings and nieces and nephews.
