Tough two quarters lead to UC loss

Tough two quarters lead to UC loss
UNION CITY, Ind. – The Union City boys basketball team suffered a Tri-Eastern Conference loss to the visiting Bulldogs of Centerville Tuesday night.

The Indians kept the game tight in the first quarter, leading Centerville 13-12 after the first eight minutes of action. The Bulldogs took a 22-17 lead, following a four-point offensive second quarter for Union City.

The Indians were unable to get things going in the third, as the Bulldogs extended their lead following another single digit scoring effort by the Indian offense. Though UC was able to win the final period of regulation 16-12, it was not enough to make a comeback…falling by a final score of 51-38.

Senior Tyler Thornhill led the way in scoring for the Indians, scoring 15 points…followed by junior Trevor Spence with 10 and senior Isaac Jefferis who added eight points in the loss.

The Indians JV squad fared better than the varsity, defeating the Bulldogs by a score of 44-28.

The Indians will hit the road for another TEC game against the Patriots of Union County Friday night. With Saturday’s home game against Southern Wells being cancelled for the girls Semi-State game, the Indians will return home next Friday to wrap up the season against Northeastern.
