Indians lose hard fought battle in County Championship
Winchester 59, Union City 44
Nathaniel Dunica scored 16 points and Payton Sparks and Ross Culy each had 13 as Winchester defeated Union City 59-44 for the Falcons’ first Randolph County title since 2015.
Sparks added 15 rebounds for a double-double, while Wayde Sickels had four steals.
Mason Good led Union City with 12 points, while Akili Roberts had 11 points and seven rebounds and Bryten Stewart had 10 points.
Winchester defeated Monroe Central 56-36 in its semifinal after Monroe Central edged Randolph Southern 41-40 in the first-round game.
Union City handled Union 84-49 in their semifinal game.
Winchester (6-4) is at Hagerstown on Friday, while Union City (4-6) is at Monroe Central and Randolph Southern (4-8) visits Blue River that night.
