The Union City Indians hosted the 3rd Annual Dylan Williams Memorial Wood Bat Invitational Saturday. After some good baseball on a great day, the Indians finished in 2nd place, losing to the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks, 5 - 3, in the championship game.

The first game of the tourney saw the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks taking on the Delaware Christian Academy Knights. MV won the first game, moving on to the championship game.

The Indians took on the Ansonia Tigers in game two. Union City had their bats working for this matchup, putting up 15 hits. The Indians were led by Nic Wells, (Fr), and Trevor Spence, (Jr). So the championship game was set with cross-town rivals, the Union City Indians taking on the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks. After a back and forth game, MV held on for the the win, 5-3.

"This was a tough loss for our Indians," said Coach Bill Bradbury. "Our guys really look forward to our invitational, and defensively we didn't play our best. We were able to out hit MV, 10-5, but after putting up 6 errors, we couldn't come out on top."

Union City was led at the plate by Spence and Luster, who each put up 3 hits in the game. Dawson Thornburg, (Jr), added 2 hits, while Zach Bradbury, (Jr), and Gabe Loesch, (Jr), both added one.

Fulk started on the hill for UC, going 4 innings, giving up 2 hits and 2 runs. Spence came on in relief and ended up getting the loss for the Indians, going 3 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 earned runs.
