INDIANS WIN 10TH STRAIGHT BEATING NORTHEASTERN
Union City played a home conference game Thursday against the Knights of Northeastern. This was a wild, back and forth slug-fest, with Union City coming out on top 16 - 13.
The last few wins for UC have been on the backs of some really good pitching performances, but today the Indians struggled from the hill. The Indians pitchers gave up 14 hits, walked 10 batters, and also hit 3 Knights at the plate. Senior Trevor Spence started for Union City, but just couldn't get it going. Spence lasted 3 innings, giving up 8 earned runs on 8 hits. Nic Wells, (So), came on in relief and had the same issues, going just 1 1/3 innings, and giving up 4 earned runs on 4 hits. A bright spot on the hill for the Indians was Senior pitcher, Jacob Fulk, who came on to get the win. Fulk pitched 2 2/3 innings and did not give up any runs on just 2 hits.
Fortunately for UC, the bats were still hot. Senior slugger, Zach Bradbury had 2 hits and 5 RBI's in the game, including blasting a deep grand slam to center field. Gabe Loesch, (Sr), also had 2 hits, and a big home run of his own, as well as knocking in 4 runs. Spence found 2 hits on the night, and scored 3 times for the Indians. Fulk, Jacob Bradbury, (Jr), Jacob Curry, (Jr), and Jacob Moore each added a hit for Union City.
With the win, Union City moves to 5 - 1 in the Tri-Eastern Conference, and 12 - 2 on the season. The Indians will host South Adams on Saturday.
